RMUTP Chef Wins 3rd Place in Global Pizza Competition with “Pad Thai Pizza”

Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP) congratulates Mr. Paramet Saisutthi, a student in the Department of Food and Nutrition, Faculty of Home Economics Technology, for winning 3rd place with a score of 50.32 out of 60 in the International Pizza Challenge CMAB Pro Division 2024 (freestyle pizza challenge) at The International Pizza Expo 2024, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The competition featured over 400 chefs from around the world.

Mr. Paramet shared that participating in this global competition as a representative of Thailand was a significant opportunity. He aimed to present a dish that embodies Thai identity while maintaining the delicious flavor of pizza. Inspired by Thailand’s renowned street food, which attracts visitors from all over the world, he created “Pad Thai Pizza.” The Pad Thai sauce used on the pizza dough was made with the same ingredients as traditional Pad Thai, preserving its authentic Thai flavor. Instead of the usual rice noodles, the dish was presented on Napoli-style pizza dough, offering a thin, soft, and chewy texture. Despite his lack of expertise in pizza-making and competing in a pizza competition for the first time, Mr. Paramet trained rigorously, experimenting with different techniques learned in class, which eventually led to his final recipe. The overall score of 50.32 across two rounds earned him 3rd place, which he found very satisfying. The competition provided him with valuable experiences in the world of pizza, including ingredient selection and techniques from chefs worldwide. Combining this experience with his passion for cooking and baking, Mr. Paramet plans to open a bakery and offer short courses, both online and offline, to chefs abroad, with the goal of introducing Thai culinary culture to a broader audience.
