RMUTP Hosts Webinar on “Edible Flowers in Thailand: Enhancing Value and Identity in Food” via Zoom for Free

The Health, Cosmetic and Anti-Aging Technology (HCAT), The Faculty of Science and Technology at Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon, invites interested individuals to participate in an online webinar titled “Edible Flowers in Thailand: Enhancing Value and Identity in Food.” This event is part of a research project on “Risk Assessment and Safety, Nutritional Value, Pharmacological Effects, and Sensory Quality of Fresh and Dried Edible Flowers,” scheduled for 27 May 2024 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM via Zoom. The webinar is free of charge and open to 500 participants, funded by the Agricultural Research Development Agency (Public Organization) for the fiscal year 2023.

Topics covered in the webinar include edible flowers for physical, visual, and emotional nourishment, as well as medicinal uses; criteria for selecting edible/non-edible flowers; nutritional value, antioxidant effects, phenolic compounds, mineral content, aromatic compounds, and safety aspects of edible flowers; heavy metal and pesticide residue contamination; microbial contamination; sensory testing of edible flowers; development of edible flowers as medicine; and various edible flower-based dishes.

The event will feature discussions on edible flowers with experts from Morganic Farm, Wang Nam Khiao; Flower You Can Eat, Chiang Mai; the Department of Psychiatric and Mental Boromarajonani College of Nursing Suphanburi and specialists in heavy metal residues in food from the University of Phayao.
