Dr. Natworapol Rachsiriwatcharabul, President of Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP), congratulated and awarded cash prizes to students who brought honor to the university by winning medals at the 49th University Sports of Thailand, known as the “Nontree Games,” held from January 27 to February 5, 2024, at Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng Saen Campus. The awardees include Ms. Ketkaew Rungnonpho, a student from the Faculty of Business Administration, who won a bronze medal in Go, a board game in the women’s individual category, and Mr. Tawan Theerarangsanit, a student from the Faculty of Home Economics Technology, who won two bronze medals in Thai swordsmanship, in the men’s individual two-handed sword category and the men’s individual saber category.
Ms. Ketkaew Rungnonpho, a board game athlete from the Faculty of Business Administration, shared that she felt slightly nervous before the competition but had consistently trained after classes. During the competition, she relied on her unique strategy, particularly focusing on careful planning and concentration. She encourages younger students interested in board games to seek advice from the athletic team and expressed her gratitude to the university and friends for their support.
Mr. Tawan Theerarangsanit, a Thai swordsmanship athlete from the Faculty of Home Economics Technology, expressed his joy, saying he hadn’t expected to win a medal. However, he had continuously prepared by training rigorously while balancing his studies. His strategy was to remain calm and apply the techniques he had practiced as much as possible. He hopes the university will support this sport by promoting it within RMUTP and providing funding for sports clubs.
