Assistant Professor Sattha Khaengpenkhae, Assistant to the President for Student Affairs, along with Ms. Mallika Weerasai, Acting Director of the Student Development Division at Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP), led a team of student activities staff, student leaders, and students to participate in the 22nd Higher Education Arts and Culture Event titled “Dadaat: The Art and Science of Siam.” The event took place from February 23 to 26, 2024, at Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, with the opening ceremony presided over by Ms. Supamas Issaraphakdee, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation.
At the event, RMUTP’s Performing Arts Club presented the performance “Chalasinthu: The Siamese Way of Life,” which was inspired by the Thai people’s deep connection to water. Water has always played a crucial role in their daily lives, traditions, and the creation of beautiful cultural practices, which have been shaped into valuable artistic expressions unique to the Siamese people.
The Higher Education Arts and Culture Event is organized to foster the exchange of experiences and performances among educational institutions, as well as to encourage youth to appreciate performing arts and local wisdom, which have been passed down through generations. The event featured a variety of cultural activities, including performances by higher education institutions from across the country, representing all regions of Thailand. Over 110 institutions participated, showcasing the arts and culture from the four regions of Thailand and demonstrating traditional crafts through hands-on booths.
