At present, the Thai government actively promotes and drives the country’s soft power through its creative industries, with a particular focus on design and fashion. A key initiative encourages the use of traditional Thai textiles and Thai silk in the creation of modern clothing and fashion pieces. In alignment with this policy, the Ministry of Culture has organized the 14th “Thai Silk to the World” Festival, an event that offers university students aspiring to become professional designers a unique opportunity to showcase their talents in designing and tailoring Thai silk outfits.
These outfits are created for Cabinet members, representatives of the Thai government, ambassadors and their spouses, as well as delegates from foreign embassies in Thailand. This initiative serves as a cultural bridge, fostering stronger diplomatic and cultural ties between Thailand and the international community.
As part of this effort, students and faculty members from three faculties at Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP) the Faculty of Home Economics Technology, the Faculty of Liberal Arts, and the Faculty of Industrial Textiles and Fashion Design have collaboratively designed and tailored garments for representatives of various embassies.
