On December 9, 2023, Asst. Prof. Sattha Khaengpenkhae, Assistant to the President for Student Affairs, and Ms. Mallika Veerasai, Director of Student Development Division, represented Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon at the press conference for the launch of “Heartfelt Project Year 2” and the award ceremony for the winners of the blood donation campaign among higher education youth. The event, organized in collaboration with the Thai Red Cross Society and educational institutions, took place at the Sakuntala Room, Peninsula Hotel, Bangkok.
The blood donation campaign among higher education youth was a success in its first year, resulting in a total of 1,724,850 cc of blood donations. There were 27 universities participating in the competition, with 3,122 entrants. RMUTP also participated in this campaign. The top prize for the highest blood donation team in 2023 was awarded to a team from Sripatum University, and the best campaign team award went to a team from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang.
However, the goal of the ‘Heartfelt’ project is to contribute to solving the blood shortage problem in Thai society. The current demand for blood donations is 2,200 units per day, but only 1,600–1,700 units are collected daily, which is insufficient to meet the needs of patients in hospitals. The second year of the ‘Heartfelt’ project, under the campaign ‘United Thai Hearts: 72 Million CCs in Honor of the 72nd Birthday,’ will run from January 1, 2024, to November 30, 2024. In its second year, the project expects to involve 100 universities and aims to collect a total of 72 million cc of blood, or approximately 206,000 units. We invite universities and students nationwide to participate in the blood donation campaign contest organized by the ‘Heartfelt’ project. There are three award categories in the second year: Highest Blood Volume Team, Best Campaign, and Highest Blood Volume University.
